Caroline provides counseling services with an evidence-based approach, to individuals and couples who are in need. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing to help clients reach their goals and maintain changes and outcomes.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a goal-oriented therapeutic approach that focuses on how our thinking influences our behavior. CBT posits that one’s emotions and behaviors are often caused or derived by one’s thoughts. By confronting the cognitive error and replacing it with a more realistic thought, the person will reduce or even eliminate the anxiety completely.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories (Shapiro, 1989a, 1989b). The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes. (https://www.emdr.com/what-is-emdr/
